Isla Fisher among Australian celebs ‘hunkering down’ ahead of one of the country’s ‘deadliest storms ever’

Isla Fisher is one of many celebrities affected by the harsh impact of Cyclone Alfred which hit Australia’s southern east coast.

Cyclone Alfred, classified as a Category 1 hit the coast of Queensland on Monday and is expected to wreak havoc across the region later this week.

Forecasters have warned the cyclone is set to be one of the most destructive in the region in decades, with gusts more than 125km/h.

Confessions of a Shopaholic actress Isla, 49, shared a series of snaps on Instagram panic buying as she remains in Queensland.

In one of her Stories took a selfie and captioned it:’ Hunkered down waiting for the cyclone’.

It is unclear whether Isla’s three children who she shared with ex-husband Sacha Baron Cohen, are with her in Queensland.

US rapper Ice Cube – O’Shea Jackson Sr – confirmed he’s currently stuck in a hotel in Queensland, and true to to his rap name, the musician is actually pretty cool about the whole situation.

The Ride Along actor – who has concerts in Sydney and Melbourne this week – told an Australian chat show: ‘It is pretty cool, I haven’t been through a cyclone before. I can check this off my bucket list for sure.

He joked: ‘You know, I’m right here on the beach. The beach looks like it is going to be in the lobby in a minute.’

Pop-punk band Green Day also took action by cancelling their by scrapping the final show of their Australian Saviors Tour, which was due to take place on Wednesday (March 5) at Robina Stadium in Gold Coast, Queensland, due to the tornado.

The group, made up of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tré Cool and Mike Dirnt, confirmed the news in a statement shared on the Robina Stadium’s official Instagram.

 ‘Hey Australia, unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control, tomorrow’s Gold Coast show has been cancelled,’ they wrote.

‘With Cyclone Alfred bringing some seriously nasty weather, it’s just not possible to go ahead safely.’

Another Hollywood A-lister who could reportedly be affected by the hurricane is Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, 41 and his wife actress Elsa Pataky, 48.

The couple own a $50million (£38,931,600) mansion near Seven Mile Beach, which is 111 km south of the Gold Coast.

No cyclone has reached the coast of south-east Queensland for 51 years, when Cyclone Wanda caused catastrophic floods in January 1974.

Two months later, the region was also hit by Cyclone Zoe, which wreaked even more havoc across the two states.

Forecasts indicate potential rainfall levels of 300-600mm, with some areas possibly receiving up to 700mm.

Winds are expected to exceed 120kmph, accompanied by large waves that may lead to coastal erosion and flooding.

This comes after several celebrities lost their homes following the tragic Los Angeles wildfires that took place at the beginning of the year.
