Former Loose Women star Andrea McLean has revealed a painful-looking injury after she made a trip to A&E.
The TV presenter, 55, took to Instagram to tell her followers she had suffered from a black eye after fainting at home, saying she ‘face planted onto the bathroom floor’.
Alongside a video clip showing the bruise below her eye, she explained: ‘Black Eyed Peas… Both are relevant today.
‘Yup. I’ve got a shiner.
‘I wish that I had a super exciting story as to why. I didn’t leap from a moving car or parachute off a building.
‘Nope. I just woke up yesterday morning and got out of bed too fast, I guess before I’d properly woken up.
‘By the time I’d walked the few steps to the bathroom I thought: “I don’t feel too good..” and fainted. I landed on my face. Literally face planted onto the bathroom floor.’
Andrea explained she’d already been checked out at A&E, adding: ‘Thankfully my cheekbone isn’t broken, and I won’t lose any teeth. I was really lucky.
‘Lesson learned. Take a moment. I’m not quite ‘better’ yet.’
Concluding her post, she said: ‘To the few hundred women I’m speaking on stage in front of tomorrow in Hull, excuse the shiner.
‘Oh. And Black Eyed Peas because I have a black eye and I spent most of yesterday with a bag of peas on my face.’
Fans and famous friends alike rushed to share their support for her in the comment, with Eamonn Holmes writing: ‘Get well soon Andrea.’
‘Please be careful, hope you’re ok,’ follower Lisa wrote.
Jenn added: ‘Oh my! Take good care and feel better soon.’
This comes just weeks after Andrea revealed she was rushed to hospital after being diagnosed with ‘severe pneumonia, Acute Kidney Injury and sepsis’, a life-threatening condition.
She said she had been suffering from flu-like symptoms for a week including ‘sweating and shivering, with a raging temperature and chills’, ‘pain in my chest and back’ and brown wee before she collapsed in her bathroom.
When her husband found her an hour later, he rang 999 and Andrea was taken to hospital in a stretcher.
‘I can’t remember much about A&E other than it was thorough. Questions, scans, lots of needles, and possibly the most painful insertion of a catheter ever experienced,’ she said.
Andrea reassured fans that she had returned home but still wasn’t well enough to ‘handle normal stuff like getting up and rushing out the door to do the jobs I’d been booked to do.’
‘I’m still having ‘funny turns’ while out for a walk, or attempting the mildest of exercise,’ she went on.
Andrea returned to Loose Women in September last year as part of the 25th anniversary celebrations after quitting the daytime talk show in 2020.
