The time has come – Red Nose Day is just around the corner for 2025!

The annual day of fundraising for Comic Relief is always a star-studded event, raising millions of pounds for people in need in the UK and around the world.

So how can you watch the programme, who’s hosting and performing, and how can you get involved in the fundraising?

Here’s everything you need to know.

What date is Red Nose Day?

Red Nose Day is taking place this year on Friday March 21.

How can you watch Red Nose Day on TV?

From 7pm, Red Nose Day will be celebrated across BBC One, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer with a three-hour programme airing from 7pm until 10pm.

What makes this night even more special is that it also marks the 40th anniversary of Comic Relief, the charity that hosts Red Nose Day every year.

Having been founded in 1985 by Richard Curtis and Sir Lenny Henry, Comic Relief has since raised more than £1.6billion for charity.

In 2024, Red Nose Day raised an incredible amount surpassing £40million.

Who is hosting and performing on Red Nose Day 2025?

This year’s Red Nose Day ‘Funny for Money’ extravaganza is set to be hosted by Davina McCall, Alison Hammond, Rylan Clark, AJ Odudu, Joel Dommett, Alesha Dixon, Tom Allen and Jonathan Ross, with the live programme being filmed at Media City in Salford.

There’ll be an array of performances for viewers at home to enjoy, including from the stars of Strictly Come Dancing and Gladiators, as well as the Sugababes in their first Red Nose Day show since 2007.

The night will also reveal the outcomes of several Red Nose Day challenges, including Jamie Laing deciding to complete an incredible ultra-marathon distance from London to Salford.

Other celebrities doing challenges include Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton, who decided to don roller skates for a 24-hour disco.

The programme will also give audiences a behind-the-scenes insight into the Ironman challenge Billy Monger embarked on last year, a one-day endurance challenge that involved 12 months of gruelling training.

In addition to being sold online at the Comic Relief shop, Red Nose Day merchandise can also be bought from TKMaxx, Homesense and Amazon, with the online retailer described as the ‘official home of the Nose’.

Comic Relief’s partnership with Sainsbury’s is also still going strong, having first begun in 1999.

How can you fundraise for Red Nose Day?

Anyone can fundraise for Red Nose Day by registering online and receiving a free fundraising kit, before then setting up a JustGiving fundraising page.

You can fundraise in all sorts of ways, such as holding a bake sale, taking part in a physical challenge or throwing on some fancy dress.

You can also donate to Red Nose Day directly by visiting bbc.co.uk/rednoseday, calling 03457 910 910, or texting 70702 and typing either five, ten, twenty, thirty or forty to donate that amount in pounds.

Where is the money raised for Comic Relief donated?

On the Comic Relief website, the organisation outlines that the money raised helps to support local community organisations and brilliant change-makers here in the UK and across the globe’.

The charity continues: ‘Your donations help us fill the shelves of baby banks, community food centres, fund vital community-led services like health workers, local youth safe-spaces, and ensure safe passage for people escaping danger. Find out more about the impact of your donations.’

Over the past few years, Comic Relief has helped to support 10 million people, which includes 2.6 million people who have been heavily impacted by the cost of living crisis.

Comic Relief’s Funny for Money will air on Friday March 21 from 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with the celebrations continuing from 10pm on BBC Two with More Funny for Money.
